GMC plans to introduce a new-generation of its fast-selling Sierra sometime next year. However, before that happens, the car manufacturer will show the updated 2018 GMC Sierra Denali. The refreshed range-topping pickup truck will make its debut this summer, so it should become available for sale on fall.
2018 GMC Sierra Denali: Changes and Features
The 2018 Sierra Denali will feature several cosmetic changes, as well as a few updates inside. More precisely, the refreshed exterior sports two new colors. In favor of deleted Light Steel Gray Metallic and Iridium Metallic, the truck will offer Dark Slate Metallic and Mineral Metallic. In addition, the current NZT 20×9-inch polished aluminum wheels will be replaced by 22-inch aluminum wheels with chrome or black inserts. Plus, the vehicle gets a capless fuel fill system, which was not the case with today’s model.
Inside, the topper will get a number of pretty useful changes. According to information we have, the carmaker plans to add a new and exciting Cocoa/Maple Sugar color combination, as well as Teen Drive mode in the IntelliLink system. Plus, the updated 8-inch IntelliLink touchscreen navigation system will be enriched with standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 2018 GMC Sierra Denali will also boost its standard package with a few more features. The amazing pickup truck will sport standard Enhanced Driver Alert Package, IntelliBeam headlights, power adjustable pedals, and heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Engines and Transmission
Under the hood, the refreshed 2018 Sierra Denali will not receive any change at all. The truck will continue to offer 5.3-liter V-8 and Corvette’s 6.2-liter V-8, both equipped with GM’s EcoTec3 technologies. More precisely, the engines feature direct fuel injection, active fuel management, and variable valve timing. The smaller 5.3L option pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The bigger V-8 delivers a whopping output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. In contrast to last year when the truck was using a six-speed automatic gearbox, this time the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali will be offered exclusively with the new 8L90, eight-speed automatic transmission. These two additional gears will improve truck’s fuel economy by one mpg, meaning the 6.2-liter-equipped Sierra Denali will be able to achieve 15 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined.
Judging by the latest information, the updated 2018 GMC Sierra Denali will keep the price unchanged. This means that the base flagship light-duty truck won’t cost over $52,500. On the other hand, the Ultimate model with the 6.2-l V-8 engine will be priced at least around $60,000.
