2018 seems to be a happening year for the pickup truck sector and all major carmakers are releasing new models and some are revamping existing models too. Japan-based carmaker Mitsubishi may not be a big player in this sector but it definitely wants to improve its image and market share. That explains why the company is releasing a new version of its Triton pickup truck. The Triton is also sold as Mitsubishi L200 in some markets. Its origin can be traced back to 1978. 2018 Mitsubishi L200 (Triton) – Design
The new 2018 Triton is a midsized pickup truck that has an enticing exterior design. It is not as aggressive as the Ram 1500 models or Nissan Titan but you cannot call the exterior dull as well. The 5th generation model is built ruggedly to enable users to tackle rough terrains with ease. It will be sold in some enticing exterior colors. It is going to be sold in Double Cab, Club Cab and Standard Cab setups. The dark chrome grille, xenon headlights, black bezel fog lamps, large bumper evokes an aura of machoness. The cabin of 2018 Mitsubishi L200 is stylish and the material is of good quality. However, plastic parts are there in base trims. The dashboard layout is streamlined and clutter is almost not there. The company has deployed noise insulating materials in the cabin and the result is good. Road and wind noise does not seep in the cabin. 2018 Mitsubishi L200/Triton – Engine
The 2018 Mitsubishi L200 is sold with different powertrains in various markets. With the new 2.4-liter MIVEC 16-valve Intercooled Turbocharged DOHC engine under the hood, it will be very competitive in its class. This engine delivers 133 kW @ 3500rpm and 430 Nm of torque @2500rpm and it is remarkably power and fuel efficient. The second option will be well known 2.5-liter 16-valve turbocharged DOHC engine matched with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy of this powertrain is going to be quite decent too. Ride quality is good though it is not an off-road centric truck.
Like most of the midsized pickup trucks, the 2018 Mitsubishi L200 gets equipped with several advanced safety technologies. It also has good amenities through the availability varies across trims.
