2018 Nissan Frontier Diesel Concept: Engines and Transmissions
According to some sources, Nissan might use the same engine in this upcoming 2018 Nissan Frontier which has been used in the Navara model. This engine is a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder unit which comes along with a turbo charger. This engine is able to produce a horsepower of 170 HP and 200 pound-feet of torque. With base engine already in the set list, another higher engine option would be a 4.0 liter V6 variant. This engine is said to be tuned up for more powerful outputs.
As for the diesel option, it will likely use a 2.8-liter Cummins engine with 220 hp and 380 lb-ft.
All in all, a 6 speed manual transmission system is likely to be in option. A 7 speed automatic transmission might also be borrowed from Nissan Navara. The drive configuration will be set is such a way that the 2WD can be converted into 4WD by a specially designed transfer case.
It would be illogical to talk about performance of this pickup truck as it is just in its early phase and there is still a lot of time left for this. So hold on as this information will be furnished any sooner.
Exterior and Interior Redesign
Appearance of next Frontier is still in debate, but few sources have reported with some clues. It is expected that 2018 Nissan Frontier Diesel Concept will take the look of all-new Navara. With this change, the new Frontier is likely to be significantly different.
Another factor that is going to influence design of this pickup truck is the appeal to fascinate the customers and buyers in the U.S as one knows that the U.S is a great market for modern pickup trucks. Some sources have even said that there is a possibility of a single cab, but this is off the cards.
By relating with the information so far, grille will get new horizontal slats which will be accented by chrome. The headlights will cast out the same look but this time, LED strip runs around it.
Customers can expect great changes in the interior cabin as the company will be making significant improvements in it. Starting off, changes and refinements in the upholstery materials are for sure. Higher trims will have leather upholstery while the lower ones will have cloth upholstery.
Overall feel will also be enhanced as a new theme with interesting color combinations will be laid out. A significant change is said to be brought out in the dashboard; the center console will also be revised with new controls including larger knobs.
There will be new ergonomic seating for bringing out more space for legroom. Cargo storage is also likely to be featured under the bench; new floor mats are said to be used. Improvements will be made in terms of the technological features too.
