2019 Ram 1500 Changes, Spy Shots, Engines, Price

These are the first spy shots of the new generation Ram 1500. The amazing workhorse is still achieving pretty high sale figures, but the car manufacturer needs to change something because the biggest from Blue Oval introduced its refreshed and really astonishing F-150. Plus, Chevrolet is planning some serious changes for the increasingly popular Silverado 1500. However, judging by the spy shots, the 2019 Ram 1500 won’t feature just a few styling changes here and there, but a number of important improvements both under the hood and beneath the skin.

2019 Ram 1500: Platform and Engines

The amazing pickup truck will use a completely new body-on-frame platform, which will also support the new generation Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The architecture will be compatible with a range of engines and will shed some serious weight from the future truck due to a use of aluminum.

Even though some reports indicate that the new generation Ram 1500 is getting a hybrid powertrain, we are pretty sure that the option won’t be available right away. Instead, the 2019 Ram 1500 Hybrid will come a year after the regular model. When it comes to the gasoline options, it will likely keep the familiar 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8. Still, they will definitely feature better output numbers. That’s because the carmaker plans to improve them with turbochargers. Of course, the pickup will offer a diesel variant. The oil-burner truck will keep the existing 3.0-liter Ecodiesel, which is also getting an update and more power. All units will be paired with a usual eight-speed automatic transmission.

Exterior and Interior Changes

The 2019 Ram 1500 will keep the footprint unchanged. However, it will definitely bring back the Mega Cab configuration. We know that because the prototype features the Mega cab. As you can see, the interior isn’t too different from the current. Still, there is a slightly larger infotainment display and a few additional buttons below. There are also some familiar details such as a rotary dial controller for the transmission and a trailer-brake controller.

The exterior doesn’t provide too many information at all because it’s completely camouflaged. However, it’s quite clear that the 2019 Ram 1500 is getting slimmer headlights and taillights. Both will be C-shaped and booth LED-threated. In addition, hood and A-pillar are more aggressive, which will make the truck more attractive and have a positive effect on fuel economy numbers. As you can notice from the spy shots, the pickup will keep its usual dual exhaust pipe system.

Price and Arrival

Judging by the information we have, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 will be officially introduced early next year at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. The carmaker will try to keep the base price unchanged, so the truck should cost around $28K.
