The Ram lineup of heavy and light duty trucks hold their forte against segment rivals like Chevy Silverado and Ford F Series. As the rival companies are sprucing up their offering in a light-duty segment, FCA is revamping the RAM 1500 lineup of light duty trucks. The Ram 1500 is sold in various trims and setups and for 2019- it will be offered as a mega cab model as well. The 2019 Ram 1500 sports design changes and gets new amenities. The lineup has been unveiled at the ongoing Detroit Auto show.
2019 Ram 1500 Mega Cab – Design
The test prototypes of 2019 Ram 1500 Mega Cab been spotted many times near the FCA headquarters in the USA. The spy shots of various trims of the upcoming truck lineup have been posted online as well. Now, the lineup is being exhibited at the Detroit auto show. The various trims will sport differently styled grilles and headlamps also vary across the lineup. Overall, the exterior styling is impressive. The build quality is rugged owing to the usage of aluminum and high-strength steels and it weighs 225 pounds less than earlier model. The wheel options also vary based on trim selected. The Mega Cab has the same wheelbase used in Crew Cab.
The cabin of Ram 2019 1500 has also received design changes. The cabin in all trims is spacious and material quality is decent in base trims and excellent in the top trims. The Limited and Laramie trims come equipped with unprecedented amenities in this sector. A larger LCD screen for infotainment setup and streamlined dashboard are there in the cabin.
2019 Ram 1500 Mega Cab – Engine Specs
The 2019 Ram 1500 gets tried and tested 3.6-liter V-6 Pentastar engine and some trims can be laden with beefy 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi mill. The output figures stand at 305 horses for the smaller engine and 395 hp for the bigger one. A mild hybrid system is there too along with an eight-speed automatic transmission unit. This should lead to enhanced fuel economy. The payload is 2,300 pounds while towing capacity is 12,750 pounds.
The 2019 Ram 1500 mega cab gets laden with FCA‘s enhanced Uconnect infotainment system. Based on trim bought you get either 12inch or 8.4-inch touch display. It supports Bluetooth and navigation. System speed and ease of use make its match for rival offerings from GM and Ford. The setup also comes with 4G WiFi hotspot and USB ports, and Smartphone support. A premium quality audio system from Harman Kardon will be offered.
The Ram 1500 also gets top-notch safety features. These include blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
Price and Availability
The new Ram 1500 Mega Cab will be available at dealerships in a few months. The pricing is yet to be declared by FCA.
