While the pickup truck segment is dominated largely by the US-based car behemoths Ford and GM, FCA is also one of the prime contenders. For years, its RAM 1500 lineup of trucks have given the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150 series lineup a run for their money! The Ram 1500 has sold in record numbers in all markets and it has also brought FCA many awards since its inception. The series has been spruced up and FCA has unveiled special edition models to woo more buyers. The Tungsten edition unveiled for 2018 lineup has been getting rave reviews. Now, the rumors of FCA unveiling a powerful Hellcat V8 engine powered SRT edition are doing the rounds.
The details of 2019 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat are yet to emerge. However, in case FCA launches this as a special or limited edition trim- it will have a distinctive design style. You may find it in special exterior colors and grille and body decals may be different. Like most trucks in Ram 1500 lineup- it may get Led lights and hood coop on the engine. The cabin may be built with durability in mind rather than a luxury. However, the rugged material covered seats and washable floor mats are expected. There will be provisions for holding beverages and small accessories in the cabin as well.
2019 Ram 1500 SRT Hellcat – Engine Specs
The Hellcat V8 engine is originally used in the venerable Dodge Challenger and SRT Demon. However, packing it in a light duty truck may seem a tad excessive. So, if FCA does this, the output may be toned down from 707-horsepower to the range of 500 HP or so. Even then the powertrain will be more than capable of trouncing the competitors. The truck will get off-road tires, specially made alloy wheels and rugged suspension to tackle rocky terrains with aplomb. Presence of various driving modes is also expected. To cool the engine well, hood scoops and bumper vents may be present. FCA may use underbody skid plate stop protect the powertrain from rocks.
The RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat 2019 may get enough safety features and amenities to satisfy the target users. The cabin will have many airbags and you will get safety features like traction control, TPMS and the rearview camera. Most likely FCA will pack in some sensor-based technologies to evade collisions.
As for features, the newest iteration of UConnect infotainment setup will be there along with a big touchscreen. The version offered in 2019 Ram 1500 lineup has got rave reviews. It may have support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hotspot too.
Price and Availability
Availability and pricing of the upcoming RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat truck is not known. However, the price may be close to that of the top trims of 1500 lineup which is around $55,000.
The uncertainty over FCA unveiling the RAM 1500 SRT Hellcat production version still exists. However, if it arrives it will have the potential to challenge the supremacy of Ford F 150 Raptor.
