FCA just like other popular car makers is giving its vehicle lineup a refresh for 2018 and 2019 year. This includes the popular pickup truck models sold under its RAM lineup. The company is also launching special edition models for the light and heavy-duty truck ranges. The RAM 2500 based Power wagon is also set for a makeover. A prototype of 2019 Ram Power Wagon has been spotted testing recently and some images are also available on the internet. The design changes are obvious and the truck also sports some changes in the cabin and under the hood.
2019 Ram Power Wagon – Design Changes
The spy images of upcoming Ram Power Wagon hint at a masculine and rugged exterior styling. The basic shape is like the existing model but this prototype model has been spotted with a new grille at the front. It is likely to be fitted with a crosshair grille. Despite the layer of padding on the test vehicle, it seems the model has new headlamps and fog lamps. FCA may also offer new color combinations for the upcoming RAM Power Wagon trim. The upcoming model may also feature the tried and tested Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires.
Not much is known about the cabin of the upcoming version of RAM Power Wagon but some changes are expected. The material quality may not be very lavish but you will get better stuff than what is used in the base trims of RAM 2500 HD. The possibility of a new dashboard is there and you may get more upholstery choices. You may also get several small item storage choices.
2019 Ram Power Wagon – Engine Options
Under the hood, the new Ram Power Wagon may sport the existing engines but they may come with enhanced output for 2019. So, the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine may be used. However, it is not certain if FCA will also offer the 6.7-liter diesel engine in this trim. If they do it the outputs of 400 horsepower and 930 lb-ft of torque will significantly increase towing capacity and payload. The powertrain will be laden with specific drive modes. It will feature underbody skid plates and features like hill-descent control.
Like the light-duty Ram 1500 lineup, FCA is likely to update the safety features of the Ram Power Wagon for 2019. Same is likely to be the case with the amenities. You may expect the truck to come with the newest edition of FCA’s UConnect infotainment, along with large touch display unit. Safety features are likely to include multiple airbags, traction control, TPMS, rearview camera and sensor-based technology. Some safety features like blind spot monitor may to be kept optional.
Price and Release Date
The second half of 2018 should be reserved for the release date of the new Power Wagon. Expected base price is approx. $53,000 but the diesel model with the top trim equipment could be priced close to $60,000.
